“The council is looking forward to working with Blue Sky Brokers and Disability Direct over an initial 3 years, with the potential of 3 x 12 months extensions, increasing to six years, to develop the Salford direct payments offer for people wishing to independently navigate their own care. The service will provide an important role in the system enabling more people to experience true choice and control over their care arrangements. I am particularly excited to see the developments of joint working including the views of individuals with lived experience being used to drive change” says Councillor John Merry, Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Health at Salford City Council.
